AI Training Workshops
Help your research office move faster on grants, compliance and reporting
Practical workshops for research development, grants and contracts, ethics and integrity, and research performance teams.
What's missing in most research offices
Research offices sit between researchers, funders and university policy. AI adds new questions to every one of those relationships.
Mixed advice to researchers.
Researchers ask what they can use AI for in an application, and different staff give different answers.
Confidential material in public tools.
Unfunded proposals, contracts and assessor comments are pasted into AI without anyone checking the terms.
Manual checking that never ends.
Eligibility, formatting and compliance checks are done line by line, every round.
Reporting crunch.
Research performance and funder reports pull the same people away from development work.
What your team walks away with
Consistent, confident advice
to researchers on using AI in grant applications, based on current funder policy.
Faster first-pass checks
against funding rules, with your staff making every decision.
Clear rules on confidential material:
what can go into which tool, and what never can.
Plain-English summaries
of funding rules, guidelines and policy changes for researchersy.
Reusable prompts and templates
for your office's recurring work.
Tasks we work on in the workshop
We use the funding schemes, templates and documents your office actually works with.
Comparing funding rules and eligibility across schemes
First-pass compliance checklists for applications, checked by your staff
Plain-English updates on policy changes for researchers
Research office newsletters and internal updates
Summaries of long agreements to prepare for legal review
Drafting reporting narratives from your own data
The rules your team needs to know.
Funders, integrity codes and privacy law all now touch AI use.
ARC and NHMRC (April 2026).
Applicants may use generative AI as a support tool but remain responsible for accuracy and integrity. Enter only the minimum necessary and treat anything entered as potentially public. Assessors must not hand off evaluation or scoring to AI.
Research integrity.
Responsible research practice still applies when AI helps with writing, analysis or review.
Privacy and confidentiality.
Participant data, unpublished results and commercial-in-confidence terms need clear handling rules
*Our workshops explain these in plain English and build safe habits. They are not legal advice and don’t make your organisation compliant on their own. .Foundations + Track
The Generative AI Introduction for the whole research office, then the Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini or Copilot workshop for your grants and development staff, depending on your university's tools.
For larger offices with several teams, a Tailored programme maps your grant and reporting workflows first.

Common Questions
We've already done the free government AI course. Is this still useful?
Yes. The free course explains what AI is. Our workshops show your team how to use it in their own work, with the tools your organisation provides, under your rules.
The free course makes good preparation for our Introduction.
Do our staff need licences for the tool workshops?
For the Copilot and the Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini workshops, yes. We check what your organisation has before your date is confirmed.
The Introduction needs no licence.
Can we mix departments?
Yes. The Introduction works well with mixed groups. Tool workshops work best with people who do similar work or work in the same departments.
Online or onsite?
Either. Online on Microsoft Teams anywhere in Australia, or onsite at your office.
Can our numbers change after we book?
Yes, up to 5 business days before the workshop. The price adjusts, but not below the group minimum.
What if we need to move the date?
You can move it once at no cost, with at least 10 business days' notice, to a date within 90 days.
For On-site outside of Melbourne: we can discuss adjustments that affect travel and accommodations.
Is the reservation fee refundable?
No, but it comes off your final invoice in full, and you can move your date once.
What happens to our information?
We only use what we need to run your workshop. See our privacy policy.
