AI Training Workshops
Help HDR candidates and supervisors use AI with integrity
Workshops for graduate research school staff, and supervisors, built around your university's rules for research and theses
What's missing in most
graduate research schools
Candidates learn AI from wherever they find it. Supervisors and GRS staff are left to deal with the results.
Candidates learning from social media.
Tips spread faster than your guidelines, and some of them cross integrity lines.
Supervisors giving different answers.
One supervisor encourages AI, another bans it, and candidates are caught in the middle.
Unpublished data in public tools.
Candidates paste results, transcripts or participant data into free AI tools without knowing the risk.
Candidature admin piling up.
GRS staff spend their days on milestone reminders, forms and the same questions every week
What candidates, supervisors, and staff walks away with
Candidates
practical, permitted ways to use AI for literature work, structure, coding and editing, while the thinking and writing stay theirs.
Supervisors
a shared position and simple language for talking with candidates about AI.
Everyone
clear rules on unpublished data, participant information and disclosure.
GRS staff
faster milestone administration, communications and answers to common questions.
Tasks we work on in the workshop
Candidate sessions use real research tasks. Staff sessions use your school's own processes
Literature searching and synthesis, with every source checked
Planning thesis chapters and arguments, with the writing left to the candidate
Getting help with data and code, and testing the results
Preparing for milestones and reviews
GRS: milestone reminders, candidate communications and FAQs
GRS: reports on candidature progress from your own data
The rules your team needs to know.
Graduate research carries the strictest integrity expectations in the university
Your university's rules.
HDR and thesis rules on AI use and disclosure differ between universities.
We build sessions around yours.
Research integrity.
Responsible research practice applies to AI-assisted work, including authorship and acknowledgement.
Sector focus.
TEQSA's Corporate Plan 2026 to 2030 names generative AI among emerging risks to academic quality and integrity.
*Our workshops explain these in plain English and build safe habits. They are not legal advice and don’t make your organisation compliant on their own. .

Common Questions
We've already done the free government AI course. Is this still useful?
Yes. The free course explains what AI is. Our workshops show your team how to use it in their own work, with the tools your organisation provides, under your rules.
The free course makes good preparation for our Introduction.
Do our staff need licences for the tool workshops?
For the Copilot and the Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini workshops, yes. We check what your organisation has before your date is confirmed.
The Introduction needs no licence.
Can we mix departments?
Yes. The Introduction works well with mixed groups. Tool workshops work best with people who do similar work or work in the same departments.
Online or onsite?
Either. Online on Microsoft Teams anywhere in Australia, or onsite at your office.
Can our numbers change after we book?
Yes, up to 5 business days before the workshop. The price adjusts, but not below the group minimum.
What if we need to move the date?
You can move it once at no cost, with at least 10 business days' notice, to a date within 90 days.
For On-site outside of Melbourne: we can discuss adjustments that affect travel and accommodations.
Is the reservation fee refundable?
No, but it comes off your final invoice in full, and you can move your date once.
What happens to our information?
We only use what we need to run your workshop. See our privacy policy.
